Linear, Dualistic Monomind vs Cosmic Consciousness/Tao

Perceives reality through a series of "facts" and "things" expecting them to fit together into one coherent big picture. Their perception is linear (as distinct from cyclic) view of time and history. They regard the universe as different and separate from themselves – that is, as a system of external objects which needs to be analysed, conquered and controlled.	Understands the Universe as Processes that are experienced as "things" because our senses deceive us. Understand the manifestations of the opposite is how the Universe expresses itself. The masculine from the feminine, light and dark, the rising and the falling, night and day.
Has a linear metamodel of how everything should work or “is” or should eventually evolve into - the whole enterprise of Western technology is “to make the world a better place” – to have pleasure without pain, wealth without poverty, and health without sickness.  Gregory Bateson calls this the “double-bind,” in which the individual is called upon to take two mutually exclusive courses of action and at the same time is prevented from being able to comment on the paradox. You are damned if you do and damned if you don’t, and you mustn’t realize or talk about this cosmic paradox embedded in every action. That is why there is endless striving  towards “Positive thinking” and classification of the spectrum of mental states through a series of "disorders".	Thought divides light from dark, life from death, good from evil, the holy from the unholy, and then tries to heal these self-created wounds through more division, more war, more dualistic activity. The whole thing hinges on a primal misunderstanding. The positive/negative divide is purely a creation of a dualistic mind stemming from “thought” What if you are not the mind at all? What if thought can never define you? What if both the positive and negative aspects of life are allowed to come and go in the vastness that you are, like clouds in the sky, like waves in the ocean? What if no amount of plastic surgery, no 'perfect body', nor 'perfect mind', could ever lead you to your true nature, which is already shining in the midst of the seeming imperfection, illuminating the good and the bad alike?
Trapped in the box of limitations of everyday perception – usually dichotomous thinking – either this or that. God and the Devil. Heaven or Hell. This polarized view thinks that light is at war with darkness, life with death, good with evil, and the positive with the negative, and thus an idealism to cultivate the former and be rid of the latter flourishes throughout much of the world.	An electric current is possible only with both positive and negative poles, for polarity is the principle that plus and minus, north and south, are different aspects of one and the same system, and that the disappearance of either one of them would be the disappearance of the system.
Analytical mindset that uses thought to understand then use that discovery to conquer nature. The end result is interfering with a complex system of relationships which we do not understand, and the more studied  in its details, the more it eludes by revealing still more details to study….in an endless cycle.	A sense of immortality; a loss of fear of death; and an absence of the concept of sin. As we try to comprehend and control the world it runs away – from us. Instead of chafing at this situation – such a mind asks - What is that which always retreats when pursued?
Always disappointed that the Universe doesn’t conform when this metamodel cracks and the Universe manifests the opposite of what the monomind expects. Falsely believes that this dissonance is because of their personal limitations and or conspiracy monomind leads to “solipsism” – perceiving the universe through the lens of “Me” or what the world has done to me. The Ego is not dissolved and plays a huge role in this one-dimensional perception. Unable to appreciate viewpoints outside of the “Me”.  Becomes sad, disillusioned, confused at one end and violent, revolutionary and criminal at the other end of the spectrum. Sadness internally turns into anger.  In their hands, technology is destructive because they do not realize that they are one and the same process as the universe.	Appreciates that the art of life is more like navigation than warfare, for what is important is to understand the winds, the tides, the currents, the seasons, and the principles of growth and decay, so that one’s actions may use them and not fight them. They are thus like the different, but inseparable, sides of a coin, the poles of a magnet, or pulse and interval in any vibration. There is never the ultimate possibility that either one will win over the other, for they are more like lovers wrestling than enemies fighting. The art of life is not seen as holding to yang and banishing yin, but as keeping the two in balance, because there cannot be one without the other.
Gives up trying to "understand", resigns, escapes or lapses into addiction to escape this Monomind. Becomes unhappier and uglier with age instead of retaining beauty as what the soul experiences is in dissonance with the mind and is suppressed. The unhappiness of the soul cannot be hidden and shows in the face.	Understands the Universe as Processes along with Things. Loves the Universe more and more as it gets older and happier! The very few who look radiant even in old age and are still laughing!
Relegates spirituality to faith instead of the philosophical basis of understanding and values the “practical” instead of relying on intuitive. Yet ignores all the huge scientific evidence in support of it – matter, antimatter, wave-particle duality existing in a field of mathematical probabilities. Time and space form a background in which relativistic quantum fields float, completely different from the reliable time ticked off by clocks, and the space enclosed inside rooms where solid objects find a place, the inability of physics to define a direction in time. Such constructs are relegated these to “not understood phenomena”!	Non-duality is the very foundation of his consciousness! Understands that everything is morphing to its exact opposite. Summer is morphing to winter, the hero is morphing to the villain, your infatuation and best friend of yesterday is morphing into your bitter ex and mortal enemy. With this understanding there is no false striving after "Success" through external validation and the self can instead seek Enlightenment. A rare case of a Happy Old Man!
Our senses force us to see one sunrise at a time, one birthday at a time, one person at a time, giving rise to paradoxes that are based in the assumptions of the monomind	Without a doubt and with all the weight of scientific quantum understanding, reality isn’t confined to linear experience in space and time!
